Project Highlights

At SolutionsWest, we produce everything from online and print materials to effective on-demand eLearning courses. Our eLearning content is easy to use, with self-paced, self-service videos and training. When we are engaged in new technology implementations, we go beyond systems training to immerse ourselves in the work processes, cultural, legal and regulatory environment of the staff who we’re helping adapt to a new system. Some examples of our past and ongoing projects include:

CalSAWS

SolutionsWest is part of the Deloitte Team to support the implementation of the CalSAWS system. SolutionsWest is responsible for training development, delivery, and implementation for CalWIN counties migrating to CalSAWS, the country's most extensive Integrated Eligibility system. SolutionsWest will deliver instructor-led classroom training that combines system functionality and county business process. Innovative training approaches, like microlearning and gamification, will be used to engage the learner. CalSAWS Implementation Support Services is a multi-year project that started in December of 2020.

Correctional Healthcare

In July of 2020, SolutionsWest was awarded a new contract to create the remaining eLearning modules for dental. Since 2017, SolutionsWest has helped implement a more efficient, cost-effective way to deliver training across the State by migrating their training from an instructor-led format to on-demand learning. We have developed over 54 on-demand courses and conducted training needs assessment for the Staff Development Unit.

eWIC

SolutionsWest developed training and provided implementation services for WIC’s new web-based system throughout the State of California. In March 2020, the coronavirus pandemic erupted just as our team was completing the last of 10 waves of statewide eWIC system training. In less than 72 hours, we recalibrated our training materials and prepared our trainers to deliver via webcast. With the help of highly resourceful local agency personnel, we delivered multiple concurrent webcast trainings each day to hundreds of staff.

Caltrans

In 2020, SolutionsWest worked with Caltrans to design, develop, and deliver eLearning courses for several Caltrans divisions. The previous year, SolutionsWest developed and delivered eLearning courses for Project Management and Roadway Design.

CalCannabis

SolutionsWest produced both internal and public-facing training videos and materials for the CalCannabis Cultivation Licensing System project, for a new division within the California Department of Food and Agriculture. We developed online training videos and documentation for cannabis cultivators seeking licenses from CDFA and toured the State delivering training in-person. SolutionsWest presented live training, videos, and job aids to CDFA CalCannabis staff working with the new system.

CalHEERS

The SolutionsWest team continues to support the CalHEERS project, the application and enrollment portal for Covered California and the Department of Health Care Services. CalHEERS is a system serving California’s health insurance marketplace, created under the Affordable Care Act. Our team has served in a number of roles for the project, from creating system training in the original rollout in 2013, and more recently contributing our skills in application design using agile, scrum, and user/human-centered design principles. We provide ongoing production support and a deep understanding of both the needs of the project sponsors and the Californians who rely on their service.

Medi-Cal Support Services

In the years since the Affordable Care Act expanded Medicaid to cover adults without dependent children, California Counties have experienced a boom in their workload for processing new Medi-Cal cases. SolutionsWest has received high acclaim for our work to alleviate that burden with support for California Counties. With an onsite project manager and highly experienced Medi-Cal Eligibility staff, our team quickly works through the backlog of overdue renewals.
